In 1919 the Davies family started a small grocer nestled in the small urban center of College View, Nebraska. They had a simple goal, to provide good food in a friendly atmosphere. The Davies were visionaries who believed everyone needed a clean, friendly place to shop. As the nearby city of Lincoln grew and enveloped College View Nebraska, Davies' grew also, providing an ever growing and expanding line of health food products.

In 1959 the other side of the family, the Kuehls, took over the store renaming it "Kuehl's Grocer". Sales continued to grow, until the small rural grocer was consistently ordering entire truck loads of health food. Soon, the Kuehls were able to purchase both "Midwest Health Food Distributors", and "National Health Food Distributors", giving them the broadest selection of Worthington, Morning Star Farms and other health products available. The business continued to grow, but always without sacrificing the quality of services that the Kuehls had built their business on.

Now, nearly 50 years later, "Kuehl's Grocer" has become "Kuehl's Midwest Distributors" - owned by Bill Kuehl, the grandson of the original founder. "Kuehl's Midwest Distributors" manages a 12,000 square feet warehouse, an over-the-road trucking fleet and runs delivery services into over thirteen states, from the Rocky Mountains to the Mississippi River. Through all this, the Kuehls have not lost sight of what has made them successful, their customers

"We don't do business with people we don't trust," said Jay Kuehl, General Manager, " we would expect you to do the same."

Today, you will still find the same customer service and friendly smiles that made Kuehl's grocer renowned around the turn of the century. That's why our slogan is simply "Distributing the Best in Health Foods since 1959."
